The Prince’s Trust Rock Gala 2010

Proceeds from the Prince’s Trust Rock Gala go towards the Prince’s Trust, which was founded in 1976 by The Prince of Wales.

The charity aims to help four key target groups among young people – the unemployed, underachievers in education, those leaving care, offenders and ex-offenders. With more than one million young people in the U.K. not in education, employment or training (accounting for around one in five young people in the U.K.), the Trust helps these young people through a number of opportunities including training, personal development, business start up support, mentoring and advice.

The first Prince’s Trust Rock Gala took place in 1982 featuring Madness, Joan Armatrading, Phil Collins, Kate Bush and Pete Townshend.

Additional rock galas were held throughout the ‘80s to help combat inflation, strikes and high unemployment following the U.K.’s recession.

“Our last performance at the Rock Gala had one aim … to raise money for youngsters struggling to find work after a recession. Unfortunately we find ourselves in the same situation twenty years on and I’m helping the best way I know how,” Prince’s Trust ambassador and Queen lead guitarist Brian May said.

May and Queen drummer Roger Taylor will both be performing at the Prince’s Trust Rock Gala 2010. The lineup also includes Jamie Cullum, Paloma Faith, Jools Holland, Tom Jones, Level 42 singer/bassist Mark King, Status Quo and Midge Ure.

The gala takes place Nov. 17 at Royal Albert Hall in London.

The event is being hosted by actor/comedian Rob Brydon, actor/comedian Barry Humphries appearing as his alter ego Dame Edna Everage, and impressionist/stand-up comic/actor Alistair McGowan.

Although standard tickets are sold out, a limited number of VIP tickets and luxury boxes are still available.

VIP tickets are £209 ($352) per person and include the best arena seats; a pre-show reception within one of the State Rooms at the Royal Albert Hall; wine, beer and soft drinks and substantial finger foods per-show and during the interval; and a souvenir brochure.

A second tier box seats four guests for a total of £1,900($2,307) and includes a personal waiter; a luxury menu of canapés and hot bowl food; champagne, wine, beer and soft drinks; and a souvenir brochure.
