Glastonbury Lineup Announced
The fest, which takes place June 24-28 in Pilton, U.K., keeps things low-key on Thursday, June 25 with a number of artists on the Queen’s Head Stage, including Smash n’ Grab, Metronomy, Kap Bambino, Ebony Bones and Golden Silvers.
Friday, Saturday and Sunday expand to 11 stages.
Neil Young is set to headline Friday’s show on the Pyramid Stage, joined by acts including The Specials, Lily Allen, Fleet Foxes and Regina Spektor. Artists on the Other Stage include Bloc Party, The Ting Tings, Lady GaGa and Friendly Fires with Doves, Jamie T, Little Boots and The Virgins on the John Peel Stage.
Artists playing the Jazz/World Stage, Acoustic Stage, The Park Stage, Queen’s Head Stage, East Dance, West Dance, Avalon Stage and The Glade include Jason Mraz, Animal Collective, The Blockheads, British Sea Power and The Low Anthem.
Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band headline Saturday’s show, performing on the Pyramid Stage along with Crosby, Stills & Nash, Spinal Tap, Eagles of Death Metal and Dizzee Rascal. The Other Stage features Franz Ferdinand, Paolo Nutini, Metric and Peter, Bjorn and John and the John Peel Stage includes Jarvis Cocker, Florence and The Machine, Gaslight Anthem and The Nightingales.
Additional Saturday artists include Jamie Cullum, M. Ward, La Roux, Badly Drawn Boy and Stereo MCs.
Blur will close down the fest on Sunday night, sharing the Pyramid Stage with Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds, Madness and Tom Jones. The Other Stage will feature The Prodigy, Glasvegas, Bat For Lashes, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Art Brut with Echo and The Bunnymen, The Wombats, Noisettes, Ladyhawke and The Soft Pack on the John Peel Stage.
Additional Sunday artists include Black Eyed Peas, Lucy Wainwright Roche, Cold War Kids, Peaches and The Destroyers.
Tickets to Glastonbury 2009 are sold out as of Feb. 3 after going on sale in early October.
In late January, Glastonbury walked away with the prize for International Music Festival of the Year at Pollstar’s Concert Industry Awards in Los Angeles. It was the fourth consecutive win for the fest.
