Carolina Coliseum Conversion

Officials at the University of South Carolina are making plans to revamp the campus’ Colonial Coliseum as part of a $125 million renovation project next year.

The 12,000-capacity venue, built in 1968, will be converted into classrooms, labs, a basketball practice facility and student union space.

The coliseum was once a major concert venue that hosted acts such as Elvis Presley, Bruce Springsteen, Elton John, KISS, and “Michael Flatley’s Lord Of The Dance.”
USC has since built the 18,000-capacity Colonial Life Arena, opened in 2002 and managed by Global Spectrum.
