NSW Anti-Scalping

The New South Wales state government in Australia is working on laws to crack down on scalping, similar to the ones already in existence in Queensland and Victoria.

The changes would allow music promoters and sports associations to enforce terms and conditions on ticket sales, and enable them to stop people who’ve bought scalped tickets from entering or staying at the event.

Promoters can also cap the amount that tickets can be re-sold.

The NSW move comes with the entry of online ticket exchange service viagogo which listed tickets for Pink and Beyonce as well as major sporting league grand finals at a high markup.
