Aoife O’Donovan Releases Hounds, Tour Schedule

North America is getting plenty more Aoife O’Donovan in 2017 with an acoustic tour, an appearance on a cruise, gigs as a member of the house band on a variety show and festival appearances set to keep her busy. She is also leading a cultural exchange effort with Cuban artists.

O’Donovan plays as a member of the house band for the “A Prairie Home Companion” show, which is now hosted by Chris Thile. Most of her next scheduled performances are on that show, starting Dec. 10 at Town Hall in New York, and concluding Feb. 18 in St. Paul, Minn., at the Fitzgerald Theater. Along the way she also plays the iconic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville with that band.

She also plays at the Tribute To The Music Of Linda Ronstadt in Los Angeles on Dec. 11.

After that the songstress plays on the Cayamo Cruise, which departs out of Tampa, Fla., Feb. 19.

March marks the beginning of the “Release the Hounds” tour with Julian Lage and Chris Eldridge. The first gig is March 1 at The Plaza Live in Orlando, Fla., and those dates continue until April 27 in La Jolla, Calif.

During that time O’Donovan also performs at Big Ears Festival in Knoxville, Tenn., on March 25-26, at The Plaza Live in Savannah, Ga., on April 6. She will also appear at folkBALTICA in Flensburg, Germany, May 20.

The acoustic tour will mostly feature music from O’Donovan’s album In The Magic Hour, which was made available in January. She recently released recordings of “Stanley Park” and “Lakes of Pontchartrain” through Spotify as a collection titled “Spotify Singles.”

If that wasn’t enough, she is also headed to Havana, Cuba, in May to play a show with Cuban pianist Aldo Lopez-Gavilan, and the chamber group Orquesta de Camara de La Habana as part of a cultural exchange.
