Roskilde’s 50th Anniversary

Roskilde Turns 50 this year, June 25–July 2, and organizers just completed what they described as the biggest lineup ever.

A total of 68 acts were added to an already impressive bill that includes Post Malone, Robert Plant & Alison Krauss, Dua Lipa, Megan Thee Stallion, The Blaze, Kacey Musgraves, Tyler, The Creator, The Smile, The Strokes, Haim, St. Vincent, and many more.

The new additions include Brazilian pop star Anitta, Scottish synth pop trio Chvrches, Scottish rock phenomenon Biffy Clyro, U.S. rapper Baby Keem, and U.S. r&b singer H.E.R. The complete lineup consists of 290 artists.

Roskilde Festival’s head of program, Anders Wahrén, said, “We continue our focus on new, exciting stars. It is important for us that our line-up is diverse – also geographically. With a name like Anitta, we now see that new stars from areas like Latin America can perform on the biggest stages in Europe.

“I saw both Anitta and Baby Keem at Coachella this year and they were some of the best performing acts over there. Baby Keem stood all alone on stage and managed to captivate the audience without a lot of hype and equipment around him. I’m sure it is one of the concerts that will be really impressive this summer as well.”

Roskilde boasts two stages for up-and-coming talent, dubbed Countdown and Rising. They mainly offer a stage for local talent, as well as artists from the region, such as Atusji (DK), Daufødt (NO), Joe & The Shitboys (FO), Korter Í Flog (IS), and more.

Said Wahrén, “The program on the stages Countdown and Rising is a really important part of Roskilde Festival because this is where you will find the names who will perform on the big stages in the future. The many lockdowns over the past two years have made it virtually impossible for new artists to meet an audience, and therefore we have spent more time on booking the program this year so that we are sure to include the latest trends. I think we have succeeded and the program for the festival’s first days is incredibly varied this year.”

Roskilde’s organizers also announced the addition of two new stages for the 2022 anniversary, dubbed Mantra and Platform, which bring the total number of stages at the festival to ten.

The festival is sold out.
